The Best Robot Hoover
The most effective robot vacuum will clean and vacuum your floors without your involvement. It will also leave them spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line functions (such as a dirt detector) are a plus.
Make sure you regularly inspect your robot's brushes for hair tangled and large debris and wash them if needed. Some models can also automatically empty their dust bin on board into a larger bin in the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They feature motors that are top-of-the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other premium iRobot models (including the top-rated model) they employ smart mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also feature the feature of Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our bare floor tests and are particularly effective in removing pet hair. However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. For one, the Q5's navigation doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to become entangled in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.
It's still a good value for those whose office or home has a lot of bare floors and you want to save some money. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used while you're at work, or going to school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on very well and can't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does have self-emptying docks, however. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with one that is wet in just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a compact, sleek package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and effective at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also has a self-emptying dustbin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, though it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.
This highly efficient combination vacuum and mop makes use of advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it learns your home's layout over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can modify the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones through the well-designed app. Its battery life is average in comparison to similar models.
It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a carpeted room which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm is ideal for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to clean an entire home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a great cleaning job on different rooms and floors with various kinds of flooring, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was excellent and it was able to avoid fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.
It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically emptys into its base, and also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming, a feature that hasn't been seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
The robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular look that looks more like the regular Roomba model than the boxy models of the competition. best robot hoover of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced, with advanced features including enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).
It's the only robotic mop or vacuum to score 100% in our testing thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and boasts an its own self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to use. It comes with a simple mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's a noisy unit that could be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to fall asleep.
It's also a bit costly however, not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. If you're willing to live some more volume and some extra cost this is a powerful two-in-one that will delight most.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner like Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and cleans and dries the mop pads.
The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to map out the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than some of its premium rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time but this was not 100% foolproof during our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a high suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to the degree of dirt they are.
For larger houses, it's worth opting for models with spot or zone cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a particular area of your home using the app or via voice commands. If you have lots of furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. For families that are busy, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off can be very useful.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than the price suggests. It does a stellar job vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad and a reciprocating motion that is more efficient than most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tested. It's also self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot application is designed to guide you through a mapping run that collects data on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to organize a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to rank your most filthy areas for better performance. The app comes with a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has a powerful suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans an area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it is more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we have tested. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
